My Review On The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist makes the second of Paulo’s books I’ve been opportuned to read besides The Devil and Miss Prym, and one thing I’d tell you about his writing is that it feels like classic art.

He very well translates his innate desire for writing alongside his psychological and spiritual beliefs.

There’s three things I might do before/after reading a book; first is completely ignore anything on the “about the author” page,

Another is going back to know the author who’s mad enough to have detached from reality and gone deep into a whole new world,

Few times I just close the book and choose to stop myself from learning of this person that’s played so effortlessly with my sanity.

Few times I’d been asked to read The Alchemist, I didn’t realize the reason my heart ran from it until one day while a friend suggested it to me for the upteenth time. My mind zeroed on the name

“The book is by Paulo Coelho right?!” I asked, I must have picked this fact up from seeing it around somewhere.

Oh! Paulo! I remember him!

How enthralled I was with the devil he made, I’d read books that made me feel extreme vulnerability and want but nothing prepared me enough for Paulo’s The Devil And Miss Prym novel.

Admittedly I was scared, he’d played with my sanity once, but it’s just a book, they’re just characters, it’s just fiction.

If I repeated those words while reading this one, I probably wouldn’t get sucked in.

Then I got it — the infamous, the ever suggested, The Alchemist.

When I started it, I didn’t want to lift my eye off it and if I lifted my eyes off it, my mind remained on it.

Was I reading a feel good book, a self help book or a fairytale?

well maybe all of the above,

but, that’s not how I’d like to put it.

I think it felt like I was reading a fast guide to Harnessing Delusion, if you know me you know how delusional I am.

Paulo wrote, and I quote; “ I learned that the world has a soul, and that whoever understands that soul can also understand the language of things.”

Age old philosophy — now pulled back into limelight in these little hashtag Delulu (#delulu), hashtag manifestation (#manifestation) bandwagons .

Delulu might not be the only solulu but it sure as heck is the key and major driving force.

I’ve learnt from Paulo’s The Alchemist that asides delusion there’s just two more things capable of pulling you to your dreams;

  • Action(standing the eff up from wherever you are right now and taking the risk of movement).
  • Building Relationships(Connect and converse with people the universe has placed in your path, they’re there to aid the realization of your dreams).

EPILOGUE

Never lose focus of your dreams.

Like Paul’s shepherd boy/main character, you would don so many hats and walk in so many shoes to reach your dreams.

Admittedly that’s not one easy path to follow, but you got to feel every single moment and enjoy the experience thoroughly.

Remember; to seek your personal legend you must actually live it,

That’s The Alchemy Of Life.

Writers make me feel. Being the vain person that I am, I chose to become a writer too. You think I’m going to pass on the opportunity to make myself feel? NEVER!
