Cannabis.

Hey besties, imagine you’re in an actual live show —

My name’s Ma and I’m your host for today’s show.

So, trick question;

Ever gotten a snapchat reminder that gets you thinking of your life and the steps you’ve taken till that point and then gets you thinking of the steps you could take into the future?

I got a 2 year reminder today, apparently, every February for the last two years I’d gone and done a new impulsive lil’ thingy. A new hair color here and a septum piercing there, so what next?

This February I’m moved by curiosity to research and talk about Cannabis as THE conveyor to creative abyss.

According to Merriam Webster dictionary,

Abyss is defined as;

  • immeasurably deep gulf or great space or
  • intellectual or moral depths.

I could count on one hand how many creatives I know, who do without any sort of dependency or should I say collaboration, with the herb popularly known as Cannabis.

Does the herbs high really aid creativity or is it just vibe?

I went on Google to ask science like every 21st century person would, what did science say? —

Did you guys know that creativity is associated with the brain’s frontal lobe, and the consumption of cannabis is said to increase cerebral blood flow to this frontal lobe to make it more active?

Now you do.

I’ve decided to anonymously converse with some creatives(two musicians and a creative director) to pick their brains.

First Anonymous Creative.

Q1: Can you tell me your preferred mode of cannabis intake?

Reply: smoking

Q2: Also tell me how you were introduced to cannabis.

Reply: By a group of friends.

Q3: At what point did you know the use of cannabis aided your creativity?

Reply:The first time I smoked it. My senses were almost instantly heightened.

Q4: Do you think you’d ever stop depending on the use of cannabis for the purpose of creating?

Reply: I wouldn’t say I’m dependent to be honest, because I’m not. I could create without the use of cannabis.

Q5: You’re a precise person and I know you don’t take just anything in the litter, so, what’s your preferred specie of cannabis and why do you think it’s better for you than the rest?

Reply: I use sativa and indica very often. Indica gives a relaxing feel that helps with my insomnia and pms body aches. Whilst sativa enhances my creativity and keeps me jolly. Both strains aren’t too harsh, smell nice and require only a few puffs to feel the impact.

Second Anonymous Creative.

Q6: So I know that cannabis aids your creativity, do you want to tell me how it impacts your life outside creativity?

Reply: The only impact it may have had on my creative process over the years is that confidence boost. It helps keep my mind at ease, gives me more time to put myself together when I’m writing a song, mixing/mastering, making beats or recording.

Now back to your question, I don’t think it has had much impact on my life outside creativity but some close friends have told me how much better I’ve gotten in staying happy and in keeping relations with people. It might be the THC (considering I’m always happy when I’m high) or it could just be me being at a better place than I’ve been in the past years

Q7: It must feel good to create with a certain high, probably better than in your sober state or not? I’m guessing here, help me out, how do you rate the ratio of your performance with and without the high?

Reply: People say if you need to get high to get creative then you really aren’t creative. In reality, I combine cannabis with creativity because it helps get rid of anxiety, relaxes the body and creates excitement and that’s just about all you need to put out your best.

Q8: How dependent are you on the herb on a scale of 1–10?

Reply: I wouldn’t say I’m really dependent on it but I find myself getting high every other day 😄.

Third Anonymous Person.

Q9: Two things that have popped up since I’ve known you and your numerous creations are your spirituality and intake of the herb, one time you said “thank God for marijuana” a lil something that never left my head, so tell me how you relate all of those.

Reply: I don’t relate it, I think God is the alpha entity and the herb is a medication that helps push out the creativity buried in my subconscious.

Q10: In whatever way, would you advise the younger generation to ever indulge in the herb?

Reply: I’d advise more ways of intake asides smoking, that’s the worst way, but Yup, With my full chest boy!

For those who got curious or confused through this, know that THC(Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a major psychoactive constituent of cannabis while Marijuana, Sativa & Indica; are all different forms of Cannabis.
